Further changes...

I decided that in order to make my contents page a bit more realistic I should increase the amount of pages my magazine would appear to have. I increased the number from 30 to 50. Even though this may still not seem to be as many as most magazines would contain, this amount would be appropriate for my magazine as it is for a relatively niche audience and would not need to be a huge publication.

Changes I Have Made...

For my final pieces I made several changes from my first drafts

Front Cover:

• I changed the image on the front and then also in turn the name and information of the cover star to fit with her real name 
• I switched the tag line and website around so that the tag line was closer to the title as I thought this would be more appropriate
• I also changed the colour of the competition circle to black and made it bigger and more circular as I feel this makes it much more eye-catching to the potential reader and correcting the shape in particular much more professional looking

Contents Page:

• I changed the page numbers to allow room for adverts within the magazine
• I also changed the colour of the page numbers to make them stand out more and catch the readers eye
• Again, name changes referring to the cover star were made

• Questions and a quote were changed to be red. The questions were changed because I felt that they sunk into the background and were not very eye catching to the reader and even risked the piece looking a bit dull. The quote was changed also to be eye catching too

Close Up Of Interview

Pulling up at the location for the very first solo magazine photo shoot for new band Rock Steady’s front woman Vicky M, I’ve got to say I was feeling exited - yes, but also incredibly nervous. All I could think was this is the same woman who has been hailed as the next big thing by some very important people. How important? Try Chris Martin, Noel Gallagher, Morrissey and oh er Sir Paul McCartney - to name a few.


I walked around to the garden of the London home that has been generously lent to us for the purpose of today’s shoot and spotted her relaxing on the grass taking five. I casually strolled over and introduced myself. ‘Oh! the interview guy? Hey’ She said in her charming cockney accent. She patted a spot on the grass beside her signalling me to sit down and the most anticipated interview I have ever been asked to do for this magazine begun...



So, how are you?
Hungover. I’m not gonna lie. The make-up team have had their work cut out today! But, apart from that I’m ok.


What do you think of our location for today?
No expense spared was there! (laughs) Bet Florence Welch would get Hawaii or somewhere like that. What do I get? Someone’s back garden. (laughs) I’m joking. Sort of.


Not very rock ‘n’ roll is it? What is the most rock ‘n’ roll thing you’ve ever done?
Umm. I got drunk with the Kaiser Chiefs the other week. That’s it really. Well that's the second alcohol reference so far. Bet you’ve got a great opinion of me now!

Talking of rock ‘n’ roll have you made any really extravagant purchases yet?

(laughs) No. We’ve only just got known really. I’m still living with my parents! The first thing I would buy would be a place of my own. My parents would be happy, They wouldn't have to listen to my constant singing then!

Talking of singing, when did you start?

I’ve always sung. All my life. My dad was in a band, you might remember them they were called The Edge. They got kinda famous back in the late 80’s early 90’s. I was born just before they got known and am a total daddy's girl so I went on tour with them around the UK. With my Mum too. She used to sing as well, only in pubs and at weddings and places like that though. I guess it was a given that I would sing really.

Why Rock steady and how? Didn't you think of trying to make it solo?

We all went to college together. We got talking and they guys told me that they were in a band and needed a singer. I sing so that was it. Why not solo? There is just something special about being in a band. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do. Especially with my early memories of my dad’s band.

So, lonely youth is the title of your album, was your youth lonely?

Yeah it was. When I was at secondary school anyway. College was fine cause I met the guys. Secondary school was a whole different story. I didn't really have any friends. I just used to go and hang out in the music room and sing and play guitar. I was the weird kid. I had no idea what people my age were listening to. The only music I’ve ever liked is rock, I’ve never understood the obsession with pop and urgh don’t even get me started on rap. I hate it. It’s not proper music is it? Let’s be honest, It’s just talking but much faster. 

Who are your inspirations in terms of music?

The Beatles, hence the t-shirt, Oasis,  Coldplay, Blondie and obviously The Edge - they kicked it all off for me really. Without them who knows what I would be doing now!

What about 10 years time? What do you think you’ll be doing then?

This hopefully! I don’t want it to stop. I love singing, writing songs, performing them, I love it all. Your gonna have to  drag me away kicking and screaming if you want to get rid of me cause I ain't going nowhere (laughs) Seriously though, I don’t want this to ever end. I love it way to much.

Technology

In order to research, plan and create my magazine I have used the following:

I originally started off my project using a Mac. However, I found this difficult to operate when creating my school magazine so I decided I would do a better job with my music magazine using equipment I more familiar with and could use with much more ease.

So, I decided I would create my magazine at home using my own computer. This computer is a HP Pavilion t430.uk. It is quite old but has had many changes made to it such as much more up to date programs added, memory upgrade and a new motherboard - so it does not seem slow or 'out of date' and could be used well.

However, my computer does not have the feature of saving a file as a JPEG (which is how I uploaded images of my actual work) so I had to use the family computer to do that, which is a HP Pavilion a671uk. I also edited some of my work from this computer too.

 All of the above technology was used to blog my work, as were various school computers too.

I used Microsoft Publisher 2007 to create both my drafts and final piece. This is the program that I access to both on my computer and the family computer.

I used Google as my search engine to find any information or pictures I needed for my project.

I used Blogger to display my research and work for my project.

Picnik was used to edit both my draft and final photos.

My camera, the Fujifilm A235, was used to take my final photos. (My draft photos were taken using a school cameras) My camera is 12.2 mega pixels, so the photos as of quite good quality.
